What’s Happening


Stay up to date on all of the great things happening here at the Centre. There are a variety of special classes you can register for that are offered monthly. We also have weekly classes. Come to get some exercise or give the kids a little play time. Walk-ins are welcome for weekly classes.

On Going Classes

  • Zumba

    Zumba Join Instructor Julie Brown for Zumba class every Tuesday evening, from 6-7 p.m, starting August 21st. Class fee is $5 at the door each class. Come and have a great time while getting in shape!

  • Preschool Story Time and Playdate

     Mondays @ 10:30 am for preschoolers ages 2-5 - Free The Centre is pleased to announce a preschool story time and playdate program.  Carole Anne Penn will read a story and lead songs, crafts and then play time with friends.   • Chair Aerobics

    Thursdays at 11:30 - Free The Wellness Coalition brings their Chair Aerobics to Spencer Penn. This has been a popular program for over 7 years. Chair aerobics is an excellent program for those who want to improve their strength and cardio but have physical restrictions. Work with bands and weights while sitting. Special Scheduled Classes

  • Barn Quilt Class

    Something new is coming to Spencer-Penn! Instructors Lauren Byron and Mitzi Britt are artists and business owners in Walnut Cove, North Carolina. They will bring their talents to Spencer-Penn, instructing students in a Barn Quilt Class. This four hour class is great for beginners and more experienced barn quilters.   • Martial Arts

    Martial Arts Class Join Sifu Kristian Gordon for a 4-week series of Martial Arts classes. Classes will occur on Tuesdays, September 4, 11, 18, and 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. There are no age, experience, or ability requirements for this class. Everyone is welcome!   • Beginner’s Crochet: Learn the Basics

    Join us September 8th at 9 a.m. for a beginner's crochet class. Amy Register will introduce the class to a variety of stitches and terms for beginners and those looking to expand their skills.   • Beginner’s Sewing: Sew a Tote

    Beginner's Sewing: Sew a Tote Vickie Wasoski will teach a sewing class on September 29th at 9 a.m. Students will make a tote bag. This is a great class for children and adults, ages 9 and older.
