The Centre has freshly renovated spaces available to host a variety of large or small events. Two large rooms make lovely settings for weddings, rehearsal parties, reunions, lectures, family celebrations, performances, etc. Smaller spaces are suitable for classes, meetings, conferences, small parties, etc. Two spaces are very close to the playground which makes it great for a child’s party. All spaces are handicapped accessible. All rentals come with sound if requested. All spaces have large beautiful windows.

Louise Lester Banquet Hall

One of the two large rooms. A beautiful space with tall ceilings and hardwood floors; beautiful courtyard; stage with professional sound and lighting; Wi-Fi; kitchenette with sink, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee pot; adjoining rooms for overflow, extra meeting rooms, buffet etc.

The Lester Banquet Hall is an ideal venue for weddings, receptions, anniversary celebrations, family or class reunions and business retreats, providing a versatile space as well as an elegant ambiance.  This room is located in the historical 1927 wing and still has plaster walls, original hardwood floors and a duplicate of the original painted wood ceiling, with the old school lighting as well as recessed lighting.
The Shackelford Courtyard adjoins the front entrance of the Lester Banquet Hall.  It is a beautiful space for outdoor weddings.  Knock-out roses bloom continuously throughout the spring and summer; large hydrangeas provide white blooms in summer which turn chartreuse in late summer and fall.  Green Giant arborvitae screen the front of the property, adding a green backdrop for pictures. Alumni Hall

 

Our largest room with a new floor; stage, courtyard, kitchenette with refrigerator, sink, counter space, coffee pots, microwave; restrooms; Wi-Fi.

Alumni Hall, named to honor Spencer Penn High School Alumni (1928-1952), was added to the building in 1964 as a multipurpose room for the school.  Renovations include a new floor, stage upgrade with new black back curtains, professional sound; and a entry courtyard with azelias, rhodendremons, and evergreens.  Courtyard is a pretty spot for pictures and outside gatherings.
The newly renovated entry, which includes a brick sidewalk with memorial inscribed bricks, the courtyard and the glass enclosed porch with lush greenery, welcomes each guest.
Alumni Hall is the site for Spencer Penn’s monthly Music Night and other fundraising events like the Weave-In, Bingo and concerts.  It has been rented for children’s parties because it has ample space for the inflatable bouncy units and for children to play.  Weddings and receptions; anniversaries, reunions, and business events are also held in the larger room. Spencer Room

 

 

This room, located in the 1961 wing is one of our prettier rooms and will be perfect for a child’s birthday party, small family reunion but is absolutely perfect for baby showers and wedding showers.  Clubs also use this room for their monthly meetings.
Entry for this room will use the newly renovated Lower entry or may use the Library entry on the west side.

Craft Room

 

This room has been used many times for children’s parties because it is close to the playground.  We can reserve the playground for your event.
Nicknamed “The Craft Room” because it has been used many times for craft classes.  This room is free to be adopted.  Call the office for information to adopt this room and name it for an individual, a business or a teacher.

Craft Room

 

 

Virginia Rodgers Kitchen

The Virginia Rodgers Kitchen is the only The Virginia Rodgers Kitchen is the only community kitchen in the area.  It is open to all who perhaps want to sell their delicious salsa, or sauce, or jellies or baked goods at the Farmer’s Market.  It is perfect for the budding caterer who wants to get established before investing in a space and equipment.  It is perfect for the family member who has been asked to prepare food for a wedding reception but has insufficient space and equipment at home.  Food intended for sale needs to be in a kitchen certified by the Health Department.

Professionally equipped, Health Department certified, Dept of Agriculture certified for rent to caterers, food entrepreneurs, or to anyone who needs a large kitchen. 3 ovens; six burner stove, triple sink, lots of counter space and equipment which includes a canner, pots and pans, processor, blender, etc., adjacent to Alumni Hall.

George Burton Conference Room

 

The Burton Conference Room has been renovated to provide business meetings with everything they need for a successful and comfortable meeting.  Individual tables rather than one large conference table can be arranged to make your meeting more comfortable.  Box arrangement, U shaped, classroom setting, take out tables or use the entire 10 tables.  Make it your way!
Furniture came from local sources to help home town companies.  The tables came from Stanley Furniture and the chairs came from A.C. Furniture.
This room has been used by businesses and also by churches for retreats.

A beautiful space for meetings, retreats, etc. Individual tables ( 2/table) can be arranged to suit the renter; Wi-Fi; counter space for handouts or snacks. Classroom style: 20+

Seniors Room

 

Located in the 1948 Wing, this former classroom has been renovated while maintaining its historical integrity. Traces of a classroom remain such as the coat hooks and the original chalkboard. Beautiful windows bring in natural sunlight.
This room has been used for small family reunions, birthday parties, classes, wedding and baby showers, club meetings and business meetings.

Nicknamed “The Seniors Room” in honor of the Seniors Program which met in this room for 3 years, this room is ready for adoption. For more information to have this room named to honor a family, an individual, a business or a teacher, please contact the office.

Unique room with round tables; coffee bar; and Wi-Fi. Banquet style: 25-30.
