Spencer-Penn to Receive Grant. Tuesday, August 3, 2010. The Spencer-Penn Centre's application for a $52,140 grant from the federal Appalachian Regional Commission has been approved. The approval of this grant clears the way for the Centre to receive an additional grant of $100,000, from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission, which was approved in January contingent on approval of the federal grant. The grants will be used to fund the Centre's community kitchen project. Read the full story here.
