September 30: Growing and Using Herbs. Kris Landrum will give us information on establishing an herb garden.
Remember: All our programs start at 10:00. We break for refreshments around 11:00, and chair aerobics provided by the Martinsville/Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness starts at 11:30. Anyone who is not interested in the aerobics can socialize or visit the library to check out a book or use the computer lab to check e-mail.

Local growers display the fruits of their labor at the weekly Tailgate Sale.


Produce Tailgate Sale. Every Wednesday, 3:00-6:00pm, starting May 19, in lower parking lot. Setup is free; join us for some fresh, locally grown produce. PLEASE NOTE: In the event of rain and/or extreme heat, the sale will take place in Alumni Hall (the old gym), which is located at the rear of the Centre.
Yard Sale. Fri and Sat, Sept 3 and 4, 7:00am-2:00pm. At the Spencer Ruritan building. Free spaces available; donations needed. Contact the Centre for more information.
Giant 58 West Yardsale. Sat Sept 4, 6:00am to 2:00pm. Horsepasture Fire Department and the Spencer-Penn Centre. Spaces available; concessions available.
Patriots Party Meeting. Thur Sept 9, 7:00-8:30pm.
74th Annual Spencer Community Fair. Sat Sept 18 at the Spencer Ruritan Building. Brunswick stew, fried chicken, homemade desserts. Stew take-out or sit-down, ready by 10:00am. Children can join in games and horse and wagon rides from 12:00 to 3:00pm, and Don Smith and the Foggy River Boys will provide entertainment from 3:00 to 5:00. An auction will start at 6:00pm.
Spencer-Penn's Craft & Collectable Sale. In conjunction with the Spencer Community Fair. Sat Sept 18, 9:00am-? Spaces available inside and outside. Come hungry and enjoy the stew at the Fair. Come shop with us. Contact the Centre for more information and to reserve your spot.

Spencer-Penn Quarterly Membership Meeting. Mon Oct 11, 7:00pm. We will be electing three directors to the SPSPO Board. The meeting is open to all members, and new members are welcome to join. Membership dues are $10 annually. Contact the Centre for more information.
