Book Discussion. Thur Sept 10, 3:30pm. Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen, relates the memories of a 90-year-old man who had been involved with the circus in his younger years. The engaging characters and engrossing story make this a fun read.

79th Annual Spencer Community Fair. Sat Sept 19 at the Spencer Ruritan Building. Brunswick stew, fried chicken, homemade desserts. Stew takeout and sitdown ready by 10:00am. Horse and wagon rides; entertainment; auction begins at 6:00pm. Performance by Don Smith & the Foggy River Boys.
